May is National Community Action Month, dedicated to recognizing the success of the national Community Action Network. GLEAMNS is one of 1,000-plus Community Action Agencies across the country, working to help individuals and families with low-incomes. This year, GLEAMNS reached out to Greenwood Mayor Brandon Smith to request that he designate May 2019 as Community Action Month. During a Greenwood City Council meeting on April 15, 2019, Mayor Smith signed a Proclamation for Community Action Month. He proclaimed May 2019 as National Community Action Month in recognition of the hard work and dedication of GLEAMNS and all Community Action Agencies across the country.
